APPEAL FOR RICHARD GINORI

Richard Ginori of Sesto Fiorentino is one of the most ancient among Italian industries. Founded in the 1735 from marquis Carlo Ginori, since then it has been well known all over the world thanks to the high quality of its product. Its porcelain pieces have enriched the tables and furnished the residences of royal families of all Europe and its masterpieces are exposed in the most important museums, from the British Museum in London to the Metropolitan Museum in New York and they enrich the collections of the most famous exhibitions in Italy. Some of the most skilful among Florentine artists co-operated with Richard Ginori, such as the sculptors Gaspero Bruschi, Giovan Battista Piamontini, Ferdinando Soldani Benzi, Vincenzo Foggini and the painters Giuseppe Romei and Filippo Morghen .

Since 1700 the skilful workers of Richard Ginori had shown high professional value and they started a great artistic tradition that has been handed on till today, passing through its last great artistic director, Gio Ponti. Thanks to the prestige of its brand and the quality of its product Richard Ginori has crossed more than three centuries of our history, exporting in the world talent and creativity and becoming, as other great Italian industries, an example of the made in Italy. In the last century, the fights of its workers were a point of reference, and contributed to the construction of freedom and democracy in our country. Today the survival of the Richard Ginori is at risk.

Speculative considerations seem to prevail with respect to a serious industrial plan able to launch the company again and, through the valorisation of its manufacturing specificity and its artistic vocation, to guarantee the continuity of this company. The closing of this company would mean to deprive Florence, the Tuscany and Italy of an important piece of their history, to expropriate all of us of a part of our identity. The disappearance of this historical plant or its reduction to a simple commercial entity, in which works of high professional and artistic content would remain only like witnesses of the past, or to use and consumption of the tourists, would mean to deprive our territory of one unique and unrepeatable experience.

That's why we are launching an appeal to the institutions and to all those who think that Florence and the Tuscany does not have to be globalized and homologated, so that the wonderful history of the Richard Ginori can continue, and continue to export in the world the specificity of our region.
